In another virtuoso performance, Yokozuna Hakuho sealed the championship (his 16th) on day 14 of the Aki Basho
and went on to secure a zensho yusho, his eighth. At day eight of the basho, there were a number of rikishi
still in the competition, with Ozeki Kotooshu on level pegging and Ozeki Baruto only one loss behind.
Both performed woefully thereafter, each scoring only two wins in the second week of competition.
Only Takekaze and Yoshikaze, both in the lower echelons of makuuchi division, were technically still afloat
at the start of day 14.
