Following an imperious 14-1 yusho-winning performance at the Nagoya Basho, Harumafuji was on a yokozuna run at the
recent Aki Basho. His performance was lacklustre from the start and not only did yokozuna promotion move rapidly
out of his reach, but at the end of the first week, he was left with an uphill struggle to achieve a winning record.
