Impressive young Mongolians Terunofuji and Ichinojo are destined for great things. Terunofuji had a stunning sanyaku
debut at sekiwake during the recent Haru Basho, beating Yokozuna Hakuho on day 13 and remaining in the yusho
race until the final day. Last year Ichinojo also made his sanyaku debut at sekiwake; in the last basho he was
ranked at Maegashira #1, beating Yokozuna Harumafuji on day 3 and going on to a score of 9-6.
But for all the talk of a changing of the guard, there is no evidence of the incumbent Yokozuna making way in the immediate future.
