Veterans of makuuchi division, Toyohibiki and Shohozan were competing in juryo division in September.
Toyohibiki streaked to an excellent 10-0 score and the sole lead in the yusho race with Shohozan only
just behind him on 9-1. On day 11 the two met and in a closely-matched encounter Shohozan prevailed
to draw level with Toyohibiki. Toyohibiki then went on to lose all his remaining bouts, while Shohozan
held his nerve to win the yusho. Both of them will be back in makuuchi division in November.
