Chiyonokuni, who has achieved a maximum rank of Maegashira #8, has suffered from various injuries during
the course of his sumo career. During the last two years he has been forced to sit out part or all of four
tournaments and fallen from the bottom of makuuchi division to sandanme division.
Since his comeback in March 2015, he has fought strongly, culminating in winning his second Juryo Yusho at the recent
Natsu Basho and guaranteeing himself a return to makuuchi division for the forthcoming Nagoya Basho.
He must feel like he has returned from hell.
