Mongolian Takanoiwa gave his best ever performance in makuuchi division in the recent Nagoya Basho, scoring 12-3
from the lower maegashira ranks. In his third outing as a komusubi, Takayasu managed his first kachi-koshi as a
sanyaku rikishi, scoring an excellent 11-4 and beating all three ozeki that he faced.
