Sekitori from powerhouse stable Sakaigawa Beya featured prominently in the yusho races
in both makuuchi and juryo divisions in the recent Kyushu Basho.

Sekiwake Goeido started the basho with eight straight wins in makuuchi division, becoming derailed only
at the start of the second week. He ended up jointly jun-yusho with Toyonoshima on a score of 11-4,
picking up his third technique prize in the process.

Juryo Sadanofuji, with a loss on the third day, sat on the tail of Tochinowaka until day 14, when
Tochinowaka picked up his first loss of the basho. In the exciting final day decider, Sadanofuji
held his nerve to beat Tochinowaka and claim the juryo yusho, his first in any division.
