The case against Sokokurai unravels

The Japan Sumo Association issued "retirement advisory" notices to a number of rikishi following investigations into match fixing
in 2011. Among the accused was Sokokurai who protested his innocence, refused to retire, was fired and took the Kyokai to court.
In a landmark decision in March 2013 the court ruled in Sokokurai's favour and ordered the Kyokai to reinstate him.
