Under pressure

> View Morph <

Following a strong (although not yusho-winning) performance at the Natsu Basho In May, Ozeki Kisenosato was competing for Yokozuna promotion at Nagoya.
After over 10 years in which there has not been a Japanese Grand Champion, the people of Japan are longing for someone to fill the vacuum. Enormous
pressure was therefore heaped on Kisenosato from all sides. The question was whether the pressure would help him to push himself to the extreme
and succeed, or whether it would turn out to be just too much.

With three losses in the first week of the tournament, Kisenosato's Yokozuna challenge was on the rocks. If he could have won all his remaining bouts,
he would have been allowed to carry forward his challenge to the next tournament. Unfortunately for him he lost to Kotoshogiku on the final day.

All the pressure is now off but he is back to square one.
